Navigating the world of vitamins and supplements can be daunting. The wide range of options available and the conflicting information about their benefits can make the decision overwhelming. Many people I know feel discouraged from taking vitamins and supplements altogether.
It’s important for people to do their own research and consult with a healthcare provider before starting any regimen. And while vitamins and supplements are not a complete substitute for a healthy diet, I want to help simplify your research.
Below I’ve outlined the vitamin and supplement stack I have been taking since April 2022. I have experienced enhanced cognitive function, improved digestion, better muscle recovery, and feelings of well-being. I have noticed that when I stop taking these supplements, I experience poor sleep quality, increased levels of anxiety and stress, slower muscle recovery between workouts, and poor digestion. One benefit I was hoping for but have not yet experienced is improved skin health.
Thorne became my supplement provider mainly because I found out that I get a pretty hefty corporate discount through my company. However, after doing some research on the company, I’ve learned that they are a highly scientific, innovative, and trusted supplement provider. Reputable research scientists such as Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Dr. Andrew Huberman have recommended Thorne.
If you would like to deep dive into the benefits of various vitamins and supplements, I recommend Dr. Rhonda Patrick’s appearance on JRE Episode #502. If you would rather read a summary of this episode, check out her website, FoundMyFitness.
If you would rather keep it simple and fast-track your path to health, check out my vitamin & supplement stack below. Here is my vitamin and supplement stack for 2022:
Thorne
Daily Multi-Vitamin. Thorne’s Basic Nutrients is a complete multi-vitamin/mineral formula that contains key nutrients for foundational support, including heart, brain, nerves, immune, bone, and skin health.
Fish Oil. Thorne’s Super EPA provides the highest quality, purest fish oil available from sustainably-sourced, cold-water fish. Super EPA contains two vital omega-3 fatty acids – EPA and DHA – important throughout adulthood, as well as during periods of increased brain growth that characterize prenatal and postnatal development.
Calcium-Magnesium Malate. Magnesium and calcium work together in muscle cells. Calcium-Magnesium Malate provides a balanced blend of calcium and magnesium, both essential for bone density. Magnesium also supports heart and lung health and muscle relaxation.
ResveraCel. I started taking this supplement when I found out from 23andMe health test results that I had one copy of the APOE4 allele, which increases the risk of developing Alzheimer's. Learn more. This supplement features nicotinamide riboside, betaine anhydrous, resveratrol, and quercetin phytosome.
Athletic Greens
AG1. One daily serving delivers a comprehensive blend of core health products, working together to fill nutrient gaps and deliver the foundation for better health. AG1 supports gut health, immunity, digestion, metabolism, energy, stress and more.**
Vitamin D3+K2. Athletic Green’s D3+K2 dietary liquid provides 1000 IU of D3 and 200 mcg of K2. It supports the vascular system, bone health, respiratory and immune health, positive mood and feelings of well-being, muscular health, nerve health, and more.**
**Once I run out of my supply of Athletic Greens supplements, I will be switching to Thorne’s Daily Greens Plus and their Vitamin D3+K2.
**I am planning to add a non-dairy protein supplement to my supplement stack. I’ve experienced digestive problems when using whey protein in the past, so I’d like to switch to a plant-based protein powder like this one from Thorne.
Hopefully you found this post helpful. Best of luck on your health journey!
